La Bauhinia (Shangri-la), a grandiose place

What a majestic place! With its canopy, chandeliers, trees and balconies, ‘la Bauhinia’ makes you travel in time and space. Here, we could think we are in a Maharaja palace, a colonial residence or a Chinese mansion.

The menu is astoundingly long and varied, perhaps a little disconcerting at the beginning but quite pleasing at the end. There is a lot of work behind each dish and each snack. We recommend you the ‘Otak-Otak’, cod in foil parcel, yellow curry cream, coconut milk, green lemon and Thai basil as much as the scampi ravioli in purple mint, tapioca and Genmaicha tea broth. We are dealing with dishes spicy enough to emit freely all their aroma while still being edible by us Westerners!

Don’t ever doubt about ordering a cocktail of pressed fruits, since its quality and freshness will dazzle you. Service is full of know-how and clients rather refined. Tables from the higher floor, e.g., those of the balconies, are preferable in order to get the whole picture of this sublime space.
